Update on Mike, prayers needed

I spoke with Mike Sr. and Jeremy late last night and today. Here is what I know:

Mike was going in for another MRI around noon today. Jeremy had just gotten down to the Mayo and would wait until he got out.

There is another spot on his spine - apparently in his lumbar region. Mike is scheduled for surgery tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 31. The doctors are going to do the biopsy.

Mike said they will start in the lumbar region. If they do not get a satisfactory result - meaning some clue as to what is going on -- they will start to biopsy the other areas starting with spots (lesions) in his neck (cervical).

The surgery is risky and partial or full paralysis is a possibility.

Mike told Jeremy that he is tired of being sick. He just want to find out what is wrong so he can get better.

Please pray for Mike and his family.

Peace.

the funny thing is mike sr. really dont know all that much. he is hardly there to talk to any doctors to know what is goin on.he hears it from krista his daughter, so before you go posting untrue facts, talk to the ones who are there by his side everyday.my thoughts an prayer's are with him every day.And i know you probably wont post this because its the real truth.

i just want to say how upsetting this comment is from who ever angel is. first of all yes it is hard for some of the family that has to commute back and forth to be there everyday. but i will say this that everything that krista has told us has been right on. second of all this website is used to imform people of what is going on and to give support. nobody (especially family) should have to come to this website and read negitive comments and attacks here. this is about michael. your support and updates are more then welcome. thank you

Dear Angel,

The funny thing really is, I appreciate the anonymity of the internet, but if you are going to post comments with personal attacks, you will need to identify yourself for factual reasons, or they will not be posted in the future. Ordinarily, I do not accept personal attacks and those are deleted immediately. But yours has been viewed by many and I will allow it. This time.

I know that Michael's mom, Laura and uncle, Kenny, have been by his side nearly every day. I saw the care and concern in their faces today. Michael's sister, Krista, has been by his side as much as she can as well, traveling from Nebraska. I also know that Mike Sr. drives back and forth from Garrison nearly every other day. I also see the concern in his eyes. Rochester is quite a way from Garrison: just over 6 hours round trip non stop. I know that Mike Sr. is also trying to work as much as he can throughout this tragic experience. So he drives back and forth and brings with him Andrew and Jeremy whenever possible. I believe that is most of the time.

If this turns into a competition to see who is the better parent, that is truly heartbreaking. I believe that all thoughts and concerns should be centered on Michael. Not who is able to leave their job and stand by a child's bedside longer. I believe Krista is fully capable of relaying correct information to her dad when he can't be there.

I see no fault in Laura being able to be by her son's side as much as she is. What mother would not want to do that for her child?

But I also see no fault in Mike Sr. for needing to go home and work when he can. There are bill's to be paid, Andrew needs to go to school as much as he can, food needs to be put on the table. He needs to work.

So before you go attacking anyone again, please think about what you are doing. Please be compassionate. This family doesn't need anybody from anywhere turning this tragedy into a pissing match. Nobody is any better than anyone else. They are all doing the best they can.

Negative thoughts and words can be most hurtful to everyone involved in a life threatening situation.

Positive thoughts can do extraordinary things.

What this family needs is support. Prayers. And a miracle.

May peace be with you, Angel, whoever you are, and to the Michael's family. Mostly, to Michael himself.

Peace.
Vivian
